On November 2, 2012, several students from the Learning Center had an opportunity to gain some insight into college life at Delgado Community College. The visit inspired them to plan for their futures.
“There are so many kids who have heard about college, but they have no idea what a college is like,” Bienemy said. “Obviously, there are students who already know they’re going to college, but we didn’t want to pick the ones we thought were going to college and the ones that weren’t. We had every range of kid there.”GED student Chance Mulkey said he learned a lot during the trip. He’s leaning toward a Mechanical Career, and he said Delgado is a viable choice to obtain early credits. “It’s the same thing as a four-year college, but it’s a lot cheaper, and there’s a lot more hands-on,” he said.
